Job Summary
The Director of Regional Marketing will lead and drive the regional marketing strategies and initiatives across domestic markets, aligning them with Shake Shack’s overarching brand and business objectives. The Director will be responsible for managing and developing a team of remote regional marketing professionals based across the country to implement high-impact, market-specific campaigns, events, and programs that drive brand awareness, consideration, and sales + traffic growth. This role is a key, cross functional leadership role that will partner closely with Shake Shack’s operations leaders.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Marketing Strategy, Planning, and Execution
Oversee the development and execution of regional marketing strategies across the US, ensuring alignment with national marketing goals and brand pillars.
Lead the creation and implementation of region-specific marketing campaigns, partnerships, and promotions tailored to local audiences to drive sales and traffic.
In partnership with the VP of Brand, enhance Shake Shack’s partnership strategies as well as earned media activations.
Analyze and report on regional market trends, adjusting marketing plans in real time to address shifting business needs and opportunities.
Partner with internal teams such as operations, real estate, brand, and digital marketing to ensure marketing programs are integrated across all channels (social, PR, email, digital advertising, etc.).
Oversee New Store Openings (NSOs) marketing strategy in partnership with Ops, training and real estate.
In partnership with operations, training and finance leadership, develop local restaurant marketing tactics, trainings modules, and measurement tools to grow awareness, consideration, traffic and sales in the market.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Regional Marketing Managers fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and growth.
Set objectives and KPIs for regional marketing teams, and regularly assess and provide feedback to ensure optimal performance, prioritization and development is achieved.
Implement best practices for regional marketing processes, from event execution to marketing communication, to ensure scalability and efficiency as the organization grows.
Budget & Financial Management
Manage and oversee the department’s budget, ensuring prioritization of resources.
Work closely with finance and data insights teams to track the performance of marketing initiatives, analyzing spend, ROI, and market impact for continuous improvement and reporting.
Assist the CMO in long-term planning and forecasting for G&A + S&B ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
Key Partnerships & External Relationships
Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to enhance regional marketing campaigns and initiatives, from community organizations to brand partners and influencers and chefs.
Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring they meet Shake Shack’s standards for quality, creativity, and effectiveness in delivering regional campaigns.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to develop and implement comprehensive regional marketing strategies that align with business objectives.
Experience in leading, managing, and developing a team, with the ability to inspire and drive results.
Proven success working cross-functionally with various departments such as operations, digital marketing, finance, and real estate.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in leveraging market data and ROI to inform marketing strategies and measure success.
Deep understanding of brand management principles, with the ability to localize and adapt national campaigns to meet regional needs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and present to senior leadership and external partners.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Work Experience
7+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
Experience managing multi-regional or national marketing campaigns in a consumer-facing industry, ideally in food and beverage or retail.
Proven track record of developing and executing regional marketing strategies that drive business results.
