Job Summary

The Manager of Payroll will lead the team and payroll processing in a fast-paced organization. The right candidate will provide strategic direction and expertise to the payroll function, will drive efficiency and process improvement, perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data and audit. The right candidate will provide strategic direction and expertise to the payroll function and will have endless curiosity. They should be a problem solver and self-starter who can drive programs with cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to incidents and changing business needs.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the day-to-day payroll operations ensuring accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll in a fast-paced organization.

  • Manage relationships and payroll deliverables with external service providers. Partner closely with internal business partners to provide our employees with a first-class payroll experience

  • Cross-functional collaboration with business partners for process improvements and efficiencies

  • Ensure compliance with all corporate and country-specific policies and procedures

  • Partner with Accounting team to ensure accurate general ledger reporting and reconciliations

  • Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous process improvement to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

  • Act as point of escalation and work to identify, track, document, and resolve errors, issues, and risks proactively with timely further escalation of unresolved items to the Director of Payroll

  • Ensures payroll processes are administered in compliance with SOX requirements, internal company policies as well as applicable tax legislation, including applicable wage and hour regulations

  • Own month-end close, quarter-end and year-end payroll processes and related tax reconciliations

  • Perform analysis, generate reports and assist with special projects that will streamline processes and improve procedures

  • Lead the payroll team and promote the development of the team through effective goal setting, metrics, and engagement/development plans

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing payroll data

  • Flexible; able to perform and deliver excellent results under high pressure

  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to operate independently and have the strong desire to work as a member of a team

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail and results orientation are required

Requirements - Education, Experience, Physical, and Competencies

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

Work Experience

6-8 years

Supervisory Experience

4-6 years

Related Experience

  • 3+ years in leading team

  • Experience working in multi-state corporation

  • Workday & ADP experience is a plus

  • Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills5+ years of experience in payroll

  • Experience implementing internal controls

  • GL Account reconciliation experience required

Physical Requirements

Precise hand/eye coordination

Basic keyboarding or other repetitive motions

Lifting/pushing objects weighing over 10 lbs.

Pay Range - $98,860.00 - $126,060.00
